The Safest Rider

Jules had a bike-a-thon for kindy this past weekend, and aptly, won the "Safest Rider" prize.  He is super safety conscious, and so I thought it was really interesting that he won as the prize was given out even before the kids did their bike racing.  He was wearing a helmet (of course!), covered shoes, long pants (his choice), and his bike has safety reflective stickers on it.

He also got to decorate his bike, which we spent a few hours doing in the garage together.  Then he and I decorated Taavi's scooter.  I think the bike and scooter will remain decorated for some time to come, although Taavi prefers to ride his 'baby bike', which isn't decorated.  Jules loves all things decoration - whether it be decorating the house for Christmas (think bells taped to the chair rungs), decorating himself with markers, nail polish, makeup etc, or his hair with clothespins.  He's a more is more kind of guy.  And Taavi follows right along!

All ready and decorated!

Ready to ride.

It was a beautiful day at Hauraki School - and about 60 kids were out for the bike-a-thon races!  No real accidents occurred, amazingly.  They did really well.
