Tonight I observed the first instance of Jules trying to actively solve a problem mentally. We were reading a story before bed, and when we got to the last page, I told him once we were done with that page it would be lights out time. He had a quick look at the last page (pictures of various fruit), then turned the page back one to the animals page, which he had already looked at quite a bit. He then proceeded to spend a good five minutes talking about all the animals (goggy, cat "meow" etc) - much longer than he has ever spent on that page before. He was clearly trying to procrastinate getting to the last page! Problem solving in action - really neat.
