The party was at a park with a little miniature railway, a couple of playgrounds, some farm animals (rabbits, chickens, goats) and covered picnic sites you could reserve. It was perfect for a party for young children, with the playground near enough to the picnic site that we could easily go back and forth or watch from the comfort of a seat as the kids played.
Jules had a great day, which started out with some gifts at home: a new babydoll, playdough, books and a little Babar car from Mum and Dad, Grandma Barb and Grandpa Van, and some friends. We then headed up to the park where we had a picnic lunch, cake and presents with family and friends. Jules' cousins came down from Whangarei, which was so great. He loved playing with them, and it reminded me of fun times we had growing up with our cousins. Highlights of the party were the pretend firestation and firetruck in the playground, the play table in our picnic area with train tracks and little trains to play with, presents and cake, and of course good times with our lovely friends and family who made the journey up to Whangaparaoa to celebrate with us.

Discovering birthday presents in the living room in the morning!
Present from Mummy and Daddy - a balance bike. It will be a while before Jules can ride it, for now he just wants to look at it.
He's got the hang of opening gifts this year.

Playing - Jules was at the train table for the first hour of the party!
